MANGUPURA, balitourismnow.com – Are you a surf lover? The 22nd annual Rip Curl Cup Padang Padang is just around the corner. That means it’s almost time to play. The countdown has begun for one of surfing’s most iconic events.
Some of the world’s best surfing masters are already heading to Bali. With one week left in the trial run, anticipation is running high.
“We’re still closely monitoring the swell to make sure it reaches that magic point when the waves turn into freight trains and the reefs get hungry,” said event director Harrison Mann on Friday, July 25, 2025.
A seemingly solid pulse is also starting to build right at the start of the waiting period. Things could be hot right from day one.
“The Padang Cup isn’t just a contest; it’s a celebration of what makes surfing in Bali so special. When the swells come, it’s the best show in the world,” explained Harrison Mann.
The Opening Ceremony will begin on August 3rd at 4:00 PM on the sands of Padang Padang Beach. The event will feature a cultural performance complete with a Kecak Dance performance and a live performance by Landon McNamara, adding to the unique atmosphere.
The Opening Ceremony also marks the official start of the waiting period from August 4th to September 4th, a month-long wait to catch the best waves Bali has to offer in a single day.
Several big names have already been confirmed, including defending champion Noa Deane, Tosh Tudor, and Pipe Master Moana Jones Wong. The rest of the prestigious roster will be announced at the opening ceremony.
“Our goal is to put the best surfers on some of the most perfect waves in the world,” continued Harrison Mann.
This year’s Rip Curl Padang Cup maintains the same epic format with two non-elimination heats for each surfer, with their two best waves being counted towards a spot in the final.
The key is wave quality, surf mastery, and giving every competitor the opportunity to achieve their maximum.
“You rarely see these free surfers in the competitive spotlight, so we’re proud to host an event that breaks tradition and brings something different to the surfing world,” he said.
