GIANYAR, balitourismnow.com – The Westin Resort & Spa Ubud Bali invites guests to enjoy “Weaving Stories from Bali,” an afternoon cultural event combining heritage, storytelling, and sensory experiences.
The event, celebrating Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day, will take place on August 14, 2025, at 3:00 PM in the lush Lobby Area of The Westin Resort & Spa Ubud Bali.
“This event is held in collaboration with Threads of Life, a Bali-based social enterprise dedicated to preserving Indonesia’s rich textile traditions,” said Nadya Chendana, Marketing Communications Manager of the Westin Resort & Spa Ubud, on Saturday, August 1, 2025.
In line with Westin’s Six Pillars of Well-Being, specifically Feeling Well and Playing Well, this curated experience encourages cultural exploration as a form of mindful enrichment and joy.
“We invite you to relax, connect, and engage with meaningful stories that celebrate Indonesian heritage, nurturing emotional and intellectual well-being,” said Nadya, as she is familiarly known.
The event began with a screening of the film “Tradition Keepers,” produced by Threads of Life, followed by a live storytelling session led by Made Maduarta, co-founder of Threads of Life.
This intimate session will uncover the deeper meanings behind sacred Balinese textiles such as kain bebali and kain poleng, offering a glimpse into their ritualistic role and ongoing relevance in modern Bali.
The resort’s lobby, overlooking the Ubud jungle, will be transformed into a living gallery, showcasing a curated textile exhibition highlighting rare handwoven pieces created by artisan communities from across the archipelago.
These textiles, rich in heritage and purpose, are rarely seen even in Ubud, making this event an exclusive opportunity for cultural discovery.
A special pop-up booth will also offer handcrafted items by Threads of Life, allowing guests to take home a piece of authentic Indonesian tradition.
As part of the celebration, guests will enjoy a selection of canapés, offering a delicious preview of the Indonesian Buffet Dinner to be held at Tabia Restaurant on August 17, 2025.
Open to hotel guests and the wider Ubud community, this event invites textile enthusiasts, travelers, and culture lovers to gather and reconnect with enduring Indonesian traditions.
Whether exploring ancestral weaving techniques or simply enjoying the serenity of the resort’s jungle setting, guests will leave inspired and energized.
With this collaboration, The Westin Resort & Spa Ubud Bali continues its commitment to offering experiences that go beyond hospitality, fostering a deeper connection to self, place, and culture, while supporting local artisans who preserve Indonesia’s heritage for future generations.
