GIANYAR, balitourismnow.com – The Westin Resort & Spa Ubud, Bali, in collaboration with Threads of Life, presents Weaving Stories of Bali, an intimate cultural event honoring the richness of Indonesia’s textile traditions, on Thursday, August 14, 2025.
Nadya Chendana, Marketing Communications Manager of The Westin Resort & Spa Ubud, introduced the event’s vision and goals to introduce Balinese culture, specifically Balinese ceremonial textiles, to invited guests.
Then, Tisha Sara, Gallery & Events Manager of Threads of Life, expressed her gratitude to Mr. Pung for opening this inspiring cultural journey.
That afternoon, guests were invited to watch “Tradition Keepers”—a short film by Threads of Life that beautifully captures the art, symbolism, and cultural significance of traditional Indonesian woven textiles.
The screening was followed by a captivating storytelling session led by Mr. Pung, the founder of the organization that opened this inspiring cultural journey.

Pak Pung shared the stories behind each textile, introducing its name, function, and the deep symbolic meanings passed down through generations.
His insights offered a rare opportunity for guests to gain a deeper understanding of Indonesia’s living cultural heritage.
Attendees could also experience the textiles up close, feeling their textures, admiring their intricate patterns, and learning the stories behind each piece.
There was also a pop-up shop curated by Threads of Life, showcasing naturally dyed, hand-woven textiles created by artisans from across the archipelago.
Each piece was available for purchase, offering guests the opportunity to take home an important piece of Indonesian cultural heritage.
“This event reflects the shared commitment of The Westin Resort & Spa Ubud and Threads of Life to preserving and celebrating Indonesia’s cultural heritage,” said Tisha Sara, closing with a thank you.
She said, “Weaving Stories of Bali” is a testament to the power of art, tradition, and storytelling in connecting people across cultures.
“This is to foster respect for the artisans and communities who continue to weave Indonesia’s identity, one thread at a time,” said Nadya. [buda]
