MANGUPURA, balitourismnow.com – Ayodya Resort Bali, a leading family-friendly beachfront resort, is proud to announce a transformative partnership with Diversey Indonesia, a Solenis company. Together, they will launch PlasticShreds on Thursday, December 4, 2025.
PlasticShreds is an innovative sustainability initiative that addresses the pressing plastic pollution crisis while encouraging resort guests, staff, and the local community to participate in protecting Bali’s environment and supporting eco-friendly tourism in Indonesia.
“PlasticShreds is a sincere commitment to preserving Bali’s stunning natural beauty and conserving its marine ecosystem,” said Vineet Mahajan, General Manager of Ayodya Resort Bali.
In the heart of the resort’s pristine beach, a single-use plastic waste collection point now stands as a symbol of responsibility. This small but highly functional structure collects waste, primarily plastic.
Guests and visitors are encouraged to dispose of plastic bottles, containers, and packaging responsibly—items that, if not properly managed, can threaten Bali’s vibrant coral reefs and marine life, which are crucial to the island’s ecotourism.
PlasticShreds transforms discarded single-use plastic into durable, eco-friendly materials such as pebbles, building blocks, and home decor.
By repurposing what was once trash, PlasticShreds demonstrates the circular economy in practice—turning pollution into possibility and supporting sustainable waste management in Bali.
The scale of plastic pollution in Bali remains alarming. Indonesia is the world’s second-largest contributor to marine plastic waste, with an estimated annual production of 3.2 million tons, the vast majority of which is single-use plastic that ends up in waterways and oceans (World Bank, 2023).
In Bali alone, approximately 480,000 tons of single-use plastic waste are generated annually (UNEP, 2021), endangering marine biodiversity, threatening tourism, and impacting local livelihoods that depend on healthy ecosystems.
“At Ayodya Resort Bali, we see ourselves as more than just a destination—we are the guardians of the island’s soul. Our partnership with Diversey and the launch of PlasticShreds reflect our deep respect for Bali’s environment and culture,” continued Vineet Mahajan.
Vineet Mahajan emphasized that every bottle collected is a step towards restoring our oceans and ensuring a prosperous future for the families, children, and every living creature in Bali who call this paradise home.
“At Ayodya, we believe in sustainable solutions; this is why we have also removed all single-use plastic from the resort, including water bottles, room amenities, and more,” he added.
Echoing this sentiment, Deepak Sahni, Marketing & GSA Director – Southeast Asia, Diversey – A Solenis Company, said, “Sustainability is a shared journey.
“Through PlasticShreds, we are proud to partner with Ayodya Resort Bali to transform the way single-use plastic is perceived and managed in tourism destinations,” he explained.
By integrating this CSR initiative into its daily operations, Ayodya Resort Bali is strengthening its leadership as one of the most responsible and family-friendly resorts in Bali.
This beachside waste collection point not only reduces hazardous waste but also serves as an educational center, engaging guests in Bali’s broader story of environmental sustainability, responsible tourism, and cultural respect.
“This initiative is more than just recycling—it’s an act of hope and healing, reversing pollution and inspiring people to care for their environment,” he added.
Guests staying at Ayodya Resort Bali can now directly participate in Bali’s efforts to combat plastic pollution—making every moment of their vacation an act of mindful care.
This initiative provides travelers with the opportunity to giving back to the island, ensuring their memories are forever tied to the preservation of Bali and the well-being of future generations.
