Balinese Art Takes Center Stage at World Tourism Day at Living World Denpasar

DENPASAR, balitourismnow.com – “Cak…..!”

As the chant began, the dancers moved in a graceful malpal formation—walking in dance-like poses while raising their hands and gently moving their fingers. Their voices continued to echo “cak…cak…cak…” in rhythm with every step and movement.

Meanwhile, spectators who had been standing gradually took their seats in the remaining rows.

This was the atmosphere at the Sunset Kecak performance held at Sriwedari Roof Garden, part of Living World Denpasar, on Sunday, September 27, 2026. The performance was part of the World Tourism Day celebration, inviting visitors to experience the richness of Balinese art and culture.

Coinciding with the full moon, the shopping center, developed by Kawan Lama Group under the “Home Living & Eat-ertainment” concept, presented a series of activities combining art, culture, and entertainment.

The event was designed to be interactive and open to a wide range of audiences. Visitors were invited to experience Bali through traditional performances, cultural activities, tourism destinations, and local products.

“Through this World Tourism Day celebration, we want Living World Denpasar to be more than a destination for shopping and entertainment. We also want it to be a space where tourists can discover and experience the richness of Balinese culture,” said General Manager of Marketing at Living World Denpasar,Juanita Rustandi.

Running from afternoon into the evening, the event was designed to offer visitors a closer experience of Balinese culture in a relaxed setting. Rather than simply watching the performances, visitors could also take part in activities introducing traditional Balinese arts and crafts.

The program opened with a rindik performance, welcoming visitors to the event. As sunset approached, the atmosphere shifted to the Sunset Kecak performance at Sriwedari Roof Garden.

Set against the evening sky, the performance became one of the highlights of the celebration, offering visitors a different way to experience one of Bali’s best-known traditional arts.

Visitors were also invited to take part in cultural activities organized with Balinese art studios and communities. Activities included learning traditional Balinese dance and making Balinese bracelets, a craft that is popular among visitors to the island.

Traditional culture was then combined with more universal entertainment through a Beatles Tribute Performance by a Bali-based tribute band, which performed several popular songs by the internationally renowned group The Beatles.

The combination of Balinese traditional arts and international music was part of the event’s concept, creating an experience that could be enjoyed by visitors from different backgrounds.

Beyond performances and cultural activities, Living World Denpasar also introduced visitors to a selection of tourism destinations in Bali through tourism partners at the exhibition area, including Bali Zoo, AeroXSpace Adventure, MSB Bali, and Bali Bird Park.

Visitors could obtain information about the destinations and purchase admission tickets at special promotional prices during the event. The presence of these tourism partners provided visitors with additional options for exploring Bali during their stay.

The experience was complemented by a selection of local products. A dedicated area at Sriwedari Roof Garden was prepared to showcase Balinese souvenirs and locally made products.

Krilazz Bali presented taro chips made in Bali in a variety of flavors, while Wiznu Murthi Collection showcased fashion products inspired by local creativity and cultural heritage.

“We brought together artistic performances, interactive activities, tourism destination partners, and Balinese products so visitors could experience different sides of Bali in one place,” Juanita Rustandi said.

Through its World Tourism Day celebration, Living World Denpasar became part of the visitor experience in Bali by bringing together local culture, entertainment, tourism destinations, and creative products in one space.

The combination of these elements is expected to offer visitors a fresh experience during their time in Bali while providing opportunities to discover the creativity and cultural traditions that continue to grow across the island.

“We hope this event will leave a positive impression while strengthening Living World Denpasar’s role as a community hub for local communities and visitors from different regions and countries,” Juanita Rustandi concluded. [kris]
