Renaissance Day of Discovery 2026: Celebrating Bali’s Rich Culture and Creativity

UNGASAN, balitourismnow.com – The lobby of Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa transformed into a vibrant stage for traditional Balinese performing arts on Saturday, October 31, 2026. The Barong Show—typically staged at the Garuda Wisnu Kencana (GWK) Cultural Park—was presented in a colossal, contemporary format, bringing together various types of barong on a single stage.

The performance combined local traditions with contemporary gamelan arrangements, theatrical choreography, interactive comedy, and magnificent visual effects. More than just attractive, the show was deeply interactive, inviting guests to play small kulkul (traditional wooden slit gongs) as part of the live musical accompaniment.

Just outside the main stage area in the lobby, rows of food stalls offered a mouthwatering culinary spread. While enjoying the performances, guests sampled various dishes within a lively pasar senggol (night market) atmosphere. The ambiance was further enriched by organic interactions among guests, sparking conversations about culture, cuisine, and tourist destinations alike.

This was the lively scene at the Renaissance Day of Discovery 2026, hosted by Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa. The celebration featured creative beverage rituals, local culinary collaborations, artisan explorations, and enriching cultural experiences. Running from October 31 to November 1, 2026, the festival embraced the spirit of cultural and neighborhood exploration through gastronomic journeys, creative collaborations, and authentic Balinese experiences.

“Bali is a destination that holds so many extraordinary stories—from its artistic heritage and culinary traditions to the people who continually shape this island’s creativity. Through the Renaissance Day of Discovery, we aim to provide a meaningful opportunity for guests to connect with the destination through experiences that exceed expectations,” said I Wayan Raksa, General Manager of Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa.

Centering around the theme “Layers of Discovery,” the 2026 event invited guests to dive deeper into the stories, traditions, and creative talents that give Bali its distinctive character. The program also highlighted the latest Evenings at Renaissance beverage ritual collection, developed in collaboration with award-winning Indonesian bartender Demitria “Demi” Dana Paramita, founder of HATS Bar Jakarta and Beverage Rituals Ambassador for Renaissance Hotels.

Drawing inspiration from local ingredients, cultural traditions, and creative interpretations of familiar flavors, the collection transformed the transition from day into night into an opportunity for discovery and meaningful connection.

“By bringing together local talent, cultural experiences, and contemporary hospitality, we celebrate Bali’s uniqueness while creating memorable moments of discovery,” added Raksa.

Raksa explained that the celebration kicked off on October 31 with an evening lineup inspired by the Evenings at Renaissance spirit. A major highlight was the Punch Bowl Ritual hosted by Demi, bringing guests together through a shared drinking experience.

The ritual reflected the collection’s approach to transforming familiar ingredients and traditions into a contemporary interpretation of local culture. The evening continued with the Pasar Senggol dining experience, a night-market style celebration of Indonesian culinary heritage complemented by diverse Asian and international flavors.

Through collaborations with neighborhood culinary partners—Avli, Yuki, and Café La Pasion—the event united diverse culinary perspectives while spotlighting the area’s rich dining scene. Guests were invited to explore various flavors and appreciate the close relationship between the resort and its surrounding culinary community.

Satria Gamita, Director of Beverage at Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa, noted that food and drink possess a unique ability to bring people together while telling the story of a destination.

From the vibrant diversity of the Pasar Senggol to the Punch Bowl Ritual with Demi, every experience was carefully curated to encourage guests to explore familiar flavors through a fresh lens.

“We intentionally partnered with our neighborhood culinary counterparts and celebrated local culinary traditions. This allowed us to deliver an experience that goes beyond dining—it is about connection, creativity, and discovery,” stated Satria Gamita.

On Sunday, November 1, 2026, the programming continued with The Artisan Table, a creative collaboration featuring Komang Tri Jewelry, Clay Craft Pottery Studio, and Brew Me Tea.

Merging the artistry of jewelry making, ceramic craftsmanship, and tea appreciation, the event introduced a specially curated tea set designed to celebrate creativity and design craftsmanship inspired by local roots.

Through the stories shared by the collaborators, guests learned how distinct creative disciplines can blend to produce works with unique characters. The collaboration highlighted the value of local craftsmanship and the narratives behind the objects, materials, and traditions shaping everyday rituals.

The day also marked the introduction of Silk Road, a tea-based cocktail developed alongside Demi as part of the Evenings at Renaissance collection. Blending aromatic flavors with the spirit of cultural exchange, the beverage celebrated unexpected connections forged through the harmonization of ingredients and traditions.

Guests also had the opportunity to immerse themselves in Balinese culture through a traditional dance class led by GWK artists and a Sasando music workshop. Both activities allowed participants to learn traditional dance movements, explore musical heritage, and understand the cultural stories underlying these art forms.

As dusk fell, the resort’s infinity pool deck provided a stunning backdrop for the sunset ritual, blending music, movement, and Bali’s natural beauty into an atmosphere primed for reflection and connection. Overall, these curated activities offered multifaceted perspectives on Bali’s cultural identity—ranging from contemporary artisan crafts to timeless traditions preserved through music and dance.

“Our vision for the Renaissance Day of Discovery is to bring the ‘Layers of Discovery’ theme to life through experiences that encourage guests to look beyond the surface,” said Maria Passa Parinduri, Assistant Director of Marketing & Communications at Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa.

“From collaborating with local artisans and neighborhood culinary partners to showcasing Balinese performing arts and introducing our latest beverage rituals, every element is designed to unveil a different story about this destination. We are proud to unite diverse creative talents and offer guests a fresh way to connect with Bali’s culture, people, and distinctive character,” Maria added.

Through the Renaissance Day of Discovery 2026, Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa celebrated the multifaceted layers of Bali by bringing together local flavors, artisan creativity, cultural traditions, and contemporary hospitality.
