Vision for All: Distributing 1,000 Prescription Glasses to the Jimbaran Community

MANGUPURA, balitourismnow.com – The morning air at Wantilan Kuari carried more than just the hum of activity on Thursday, 30 April 2026. Despite the pouring rain, the air carried a sense of anticipation.

From as early as 7:30 a.m., residents began arriving for Vision for All, a community-driven initiative focused on something often taken for granted: the ability to see clearly. They arrived with a sense of well-being.

This Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program, initiated through a collaboration between Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali, Lions Club International and Komunitas Goa Maria Kana (KGMK), also marked the 22nd anniversary of the community group.

“At Mövenpick Resort & Spa Jimbaran Bali, we are committed to supporting community wellbeing and long-term development through meaningful and sustainable initiatives,” said General Manager Jan Kroeckel in his welcoming remarks.

Together, they set out a simple yet meaningful goal, which is to provide eye screenings and prescription eyeglasses for 1,000 people in Jimbaran, many of them elderly residents and schoolchildren.

For some, it was their first eye check in years. For others, it was the first time they realized how much their vision had changed.

“Today reflects the power of collaboration, where we come together to provide eye screenings and eyeglasses to 1,000 members of the Jimbaran community,” said Jan Kroeckel, demonstrating how collective efforts can result in tangible improvements in people’s lives.

That sentiment was echoed by Elly Halim from KGMK, who spoke with quiet conviction about the deeper impact of the program.

“We believe that good vision is a window to a better future. Through this program, we hope children can learn more comfortably, parents can work more effectively, and the people of Jimbaran can carry out their daily activities with an improved quality of life” she said.

Elly Halim, with a delighted smile on her face, underscoring how something as simple as a pair of glasses can influence learning, productivity and overall wellbeing.

From Lions Club International, Council Chairperson 2025–2026 Yahya Yastputera highlighted “Vision is the window to the world, and access to proper eye care is essential for a better quality of life. Through this collaboration, we aim to help more people in Jimbaran gain clearer sight and greater independence in their daily lives”.

Adding a personal touch to the event was the presence of Victoria Titisari Kosasieputri, known as Victoria Kosasie, Puteri Indonesia Lingkungan 2026, who is also from Bali. As an eyeglasses user herself, she related closely to the beneficiaries.

She shared her appreciation for the initiative and extended her gratitude to all parties involved, including the hosts who welcomed her warmly.

The event was also attended by representatives from Desa Jimbaran, the Bali Hotel Association, Perhumas Bali, and the Badung Health Agency, reflecting broad support from both community leaders and industry stakeholders Beyond the ceremonial speeches, the day unfolded with steady, purposeful movement.

After a brief press conference and symbolic handovers between organizers, the focus shifted to what mattered most, the screenings.

Conducted in two batches and running until 5:00 p.m., the process was carefully organized to accommodate the large number of participants. Some recipients walked away with eyeglasses fitted on the spot.

Others, whose prescriptions required special lenses, will receive theirs in the coming weeks, distributed across the 13 Banjar in Jimbaran, ensuring the impact continues well beyond the event day.

In between screenings, moments of quiet gratitude could be seen, a child adjusting their new glasses, an elderly resident testing their vision with a tentative smile. Each small reaction told its own story.

As the event drew on, participants were also given goodie bags filled with products from supporting sponsors from Wings, Mayora, Royco, Dua Kelinci, Buavita, You-C1000, Noodle Stars and Marimas.

Yet, beyond these tokens, it was clear that what they carried home mattered far more, a clearer view of the world, and perhaps, a renewed sense of possibility. [buda]
