“Arka Umbara” — The Creative Journey of 14 Jongsarad Bali Artists at TAT Art Space

DENPASAR, balitourismnow.com – The multidisciplinary collective Jongsarad Bali, consisting of visual artists, designers, and filmmakers, presents an art exhibition titled “Arka Umbara” at TAT Art Space.

The exhibition serves as a warm and profound space for reflection on the artists’ journeys—both physical and spiritual—which are then translated into meaningful works of art.

Every step, life experience, challenge, and personal struggle of the artists becomes a living source of inspiration within their creations.

Through visual language, these experiences are transformed into artistic expressions capable of touching emotions while inviting art enthusiasts to reflect on their own life journeys.

The “Arka Umbara” exhibition was officially opened by Ni Nyoman Sani on Saturday, May 9, 2026. A total of 14 artists are participating, presenting works rich in narrative, reflection, and the spirit of transformation.

The participating artists include Anik Argianti, Arsaiga, Aristya Purnama, Candra Astuti, Deta Artista, Giri Arnaga, I Wayan Ady Surya Pratama, Karin Puspitasari, Ni Kadek Novi Sumariyani, Rini Widariyanti, Sakde Oka, Teratai Api, Tridanaputera, and Ugi Gayali..

The exhibition opening carried an intimate and reflective atmosphere through a talk show and art appreciation session discussing the artists’ works as well as the issue of excessive consumerism and its impact on the environment.

The discussion highlighted how consumer culture affects not only social life but also contributes to environmental problems through the growing accumulation of waste.

Prangga Wardana explained that Arka Umbara is a continuation of the previous exhibition, Kules: Kriya Patra, which focused on transforming academic ideas into fresher and more contextual visual works.

Now, Jongsarad is entering a new phase. “Umbara” is interpreted as a step outward into a broader journey—a space to revisit the paths already traveled while opening oneself to new experiences.

Inspired by the spirit of the Year of the Fire Horse, Umbara represents energy, movement, and transformation as the core strengths within the creative process.

The Fire Horse becomes a symbol of an inner dynamism that constantly moves forward, surpasses old boundaries, and seeks new, more meaningful directions.

That spirit breathes life into Arka Umbara: presenting works born from both the collective and personal journeys of the Jongsarad artists—with all the uncertainty, challenges, and surprises that ultimately become the most valuable parts of a long creative process.

Through paintings, sculptures, installations, and various other visual explorations, Umbara emerges as both a place of return and a space for journeying.

It is a place to retell the paths once taken, understand how journeys shape identity, and celebrate the energy that guides each step toward the future.

Through this exhibition, Jongsarad Bali invites art enthusiasts to explore the meaning of transformation—that change is not merely about the final destination, but about the journey itself. [dar]
