Utama Spice Launches Probiotic Deodorant for Freshness Without Blocking Sweat

GIANYAR, balitourismnow.com  — Bali-based wellness brand Utama Spice has launched its new Probiotic Deodorant, a plant-based body care product designed to combat body odor while supporting the skin’s natural microbiome.

Unlike conventional antiperspirants that work by reducing or blocking sweat, the new deodorant takes a different approach. Utama Spice highlights that sweating is a natural bodily function that helps regulate body temperature, while body odor is primarily linked to the activity of bacteria naturally found on the skin.

The Probiotic Deodorant is formulated with probiotic ferments, Triethyl Citrate, and Zinc Ricinoleate to help neutralize odor while maintaining the skin’s natural balance. Aloe vera and glycerin are also included to help soothe and moisturize the underarm area.

Free from aluminum and baking soda, the fast-absorbing roll-on is designed for everyday use, including by people with sensitive skin or those looking to switch to a natural deodorant.

“We keep coming back to one simple question: why do we try to stop something our bodies are naturally designed to do?” said Ria Templer, Director of Utama Spice, in a statement released on Saturday (Aug. 29, 2026).

She explained that sweating plays an important role in regulating body temperature, making odor—not sweat itself—the primary concern.

“We wanted to create a deodorant that addresses the root cause of odor while working in harmony with the skin, rather than against it. To us, staying fresh shouldn’t come at the expense of the body’s natural processes,” she added.

The new deodorant comes in two signature scents: Sage & Cedar and Nayla. Sage & Cedar combines fresh herbal notes with a distinctive woody character, creating a clean, unisex fragrance. Meanwhile, Nayla blends floral, citrus, and vanilla notes for a softer and more soothing scent.

Both variants feature a lightweight, fast-absorbing formula designed to keep the skin comfortable throughout the day.

The product launch was also introduced through a community-focused event in Ubud. On July 26, Utama Spice partnered with FAR Ubud Run Club and Hari Lari for the Ubud Backyard Ultra, bringing together runners of different abilities for a five-kilometer loop challenge.

Participants could complete as little as one lap or continue into an ultra-distance challenge, according to their individual pace and endurance. Utama Spice supported the event by providing refreshments, fresh fruit, and sports drinks.

The launch reflects Utama Spice’s broader approach to body care, combining botanical ingredients with modern skincare innovation while encouraging consumers to embrace, rather than suppress, the body’s natural processes. [rls]
