TABANAN, balitourismnow.com — The passion for Volkswagen brought around 150 enthusiasts from across Indonesia to Tabanan, Bali, for the sixth edition of Volkswagen Lost in Paradise (VLIP) on August 28–29, 2026.
Around 100 Volkswagen vehicles, ranging from classic models such as the iconic Beetle, Kombi, and Safari to modern variants, joined the two-day gathering. Beyond celebrating their shared passion for Volkswagen, the event offered participants an opportunity to explore Tabanan’s landscapes, culture, and tourism attractions.
The event officially opened on Saturday (Aug. 29) at Ciputra Beach Resort in Pangkung Tibah, Kediri, by Tabanan Regional Secretary I Gede Susila, representing the Tabanan regent. He was accompanied by Artadinata Djangkar, Senior Director of Ciputra Group, and William Ciputra, General Manager of Ciputra Group.
Ciputra Beach Resort served as the starting point and gathering venue for participants, who registered and spent time together through a camping experience near Batu Tampih Beach before embarking on their tour of Tabanan.
The touring route took participants from Ciputra Beach Resort in Pangkung Tibah to Jatiluwih Village and Batukaru Temple before concluding at the Tabanan Regent’s Office. Along the way, the distinctive Volkswagen vehicles added a unique visual element to the journey, creating a striking combination of classic automotive design and Bali’s natural scenery.
The event also carried a social message. Volkswagen Indonesia prepared 100 packages of basic necessities for local residents, particularly senior citizens and people in need. The assistance was handed over by participants at the Tabanan Regent’s Office.
The initiative reflected the spirit of VLIP #6, which sought to go beyond a gathering of Volkswagen enthusiasts by encouraging participants to connect with local communities and contribute to the destination they visited.
“Through the participation of Volkswagen Lost in Paradise #6, Ciputra Beach Resort provides a space for communities and various activities to enjoy the area while discovering Tabanan’s potential as a destination rich in natural scenery, culture, and experiences,” said William Ciputra.
He added that Ciputra Beach Resort is a 60-hectare integrated development in Kedungu, Tabanan, developed by Ciputra Group. The area combines Bali’s natural surroundings with modern infrastructure and promotes a sustainable beachfront community concept.
Bringing VW Passion to Tabanan
For Tabanan, the arrival of Volkswagen enthusiasts from different parts of Indonesia also provided an opportunity to introduce the regency’s tourism potential to a wider audience.
Tabanan Regional Secretary I Gede Susila said the local government welcomed the event and appreciated the organizers for choosing Tabanan as part of the VLIP #6 experience.
“Community activities like this can serve as a means of promoting tourism while also having a positive impact on local economic activity,” he said.
The event allowed participants to experience Tabanan beyond its well-known attractions, particularly the cultural landscape and scenic beauty of Jatiluwih. At the same time, the gathering strengthened connections among Volkswagen enthusiasts who share a passion for classic and modern VW vehicles.
“We certainly welcome this event. Hopefully, participants will not only enjoy the journey but also take home good experiences and stories about Tabanan, so that the tourism potential we have can become more widely known,” Susila said.
He expressed hope that similar community activities could continue to take place in Tabanan while promoting responsible driving, environmental cleanliness, and greater awareness of the regency’s tourism destinations.
For the participants, however, the journey was ultimately about more than the cars themselves. It was a celebration of a shared passion—bringing people, Volkswagen vehicles, and the scenic roads of Tabanan together in one memorable road trip. [buda]
