DENPASAR, balitourismnow.com – If you are visiting Bali, don’t miss the inaugural Sanur Fashion Week 2026, taking place on August 6–7, 2026, at the beachfront area of ICON Bali Mall, Sanur. This marks the official launch of Sanur Fashion Week, a new fashion event set to become one of Bali’s signature lifestyle attractions.
Carrying the theme “Woven in Cultural Legacy,” Sanur Fashion Week offers a unique fashion experience that blends Bali’s natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and creative fashion industry into one extraordinary showcase.
“This marks a new chapter for Sanur’s fashion industry. The event also celebrates the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia. ICON Bali is a well-known shopping destination where many outstanding local brands are showcased,” said I Wayan Gede Ari Danangga, Commissioner of Cap Bali Group, during a press conference at ICON Bali Mall on Friday (July 31, 2026).
The event is organized by Cap Bali Foundation & Friends as part of Cap Bali’s commitment to supporting the growth and sustainability of Indonesia’s creative industries, particularly the fashion sector.
Through Sanur Fashion Week, Cap Bali Foundation & Friends aims to create a platform connecting local fashion brands with international tourists, buyers, distributors, investors, media, and global fashion industry professionals, leveraging Bali’s reputation as one of the world’s premier tourism destinations.
By capitalizing on Bali’s tourism appeal as a gateway to the global market, Sanur Fashion Week is expected to expand the international exposure of Indonesian brands while creating new opportunities for collaboration and business expansion overseas.
The initiative also seeks to nurture Indonesian fashion labels that are not only recognized domestically but are also capable of competing and earning recognition on the global fashion stage. More than a fashion event, Sanur Fashion Week positions fashion as an integral part of the destination experience.
“Sanur Fashion Week offers something different from conventional fashion weeks. Our main runway will be built on the Sanur Beach breakwater, allowing the ocean to serve as a breathtaking natural backdrop for every collection presented,” Ari Danangga explained.
This distinctive concept reflects the identity of Sanur Fashion Week while creating a visual experience that captures Sanur’s unique character as a coastal destination known for its cultural richness, tranquility, elegance, and authenticity.
“Sanur Fashion Week is more than just a fashion show. We aim to establish a platform that promotes the cultural heritage of Sanur and Bali through fashion, with the beauty of Sanur Beach serving as the stage for one of Bali’s most iconic tourism destinations,” he added.
The choice of Sanur as the host venue is no coincidence. The area has long been recognized for preserving the spirit of Balinese culture through its community life, traditions, arts, and renowned hospitality.
“We believe Sanur possesses a strong cultural identity, making it the ideal home for a fashion week rooted in local heritage while offering international appeal,” Ari Danangga emphasized.
Putri Fitri Ertaningsih, Director of Cap Bali Group, said the company will present its latest collections inspired by illustrations created by talented young artists, including Metta and Junia, the winner of a prestigious design competition.
The collaboration provides an important platform for emerging illustrators to introduce their work to a broader audience. Through this event, the organizers also hope to strengthen Sanur’s position not only as a tourism destination but also as a lifestyle and shopping destination offering new experiences for visitors.
At the same time, Sanur continues to evolve into a more comprehensive tourism hub with the presence of hotels, restaurants, shopping centers, internationally accredited healthcare facilities, and an increasingly diverse range of lifestyle attractions.
Over the two-day event, Sanur Fashion Week will feature 15 fashion designers and 50 professional models. “When it comes to shopping destinations, ICON Bali Mall is the perfect venue to host Sanur Fashion Week,” Putri said.
Renata Hutasoit, General Manager of Commercial & Marketing Communications at ICON Bali, expressed the mall’s pride in collaborating to showcase “The Best of Bali” by highlighting traditional Balinese textiles such as songket, endek, and other local fabrics.
As one of Bali’s leading lifestyle and shopping destinations, ICON Bali provides a collaborative platform for local, national, and international fashion brands to introduce, market, and develop their finest products.
“Cap Bali products remain among our best-selling souvenirs because visitors can wear them back in their home countries. On average, the mall welcomes around 25,000 visitors on weekdays, approximately 30,000 on weekends, and up to 40,000 visitors during special events,” Renata said.
The high volume of visitors to ICON Bali Mall gives Sanur Fashion Week significant strategic value in driving economic growth, increasing commercial activity, and contributing to foreign exchange earnings through tourism.
More than simply a shopping destination, ICON Bali serves as a showcase for Indonesian brands to introduce their identity, quality, and creativity to the global market, while strengthening the competitiveness of Indonesia’s fashion industry and reinforcing Bali’s position as a leading destination for creative economy and world-class fashion.
The event will be further enlivened by a special performance from Alffy Rev, featuring XYRA, as part of the inaugural celebration of Sanur Fashion Week 2026.
As a symbol of collaboration between the government, the private sector, and the creative industry, Sanur Fashion Week 2026 will also welcome the Vice Minister of Culture, Vice Minister of Trade, Vice Minister of Creative Economy of the Republic of Indonesia, along with representatives of the Bali Provincial Government.
Looking ahead, Sanur Fashion Week is expected to become an annual event that not only strengthens Indonesia’s fashion ecosystem but also contributes positively to tourism, the creative economy, and the international promotion of Indonesia’s rich cultural heritage. [buda]
